Middlesex Community College is excited to kick off the Fall 2025 “A World of Music” concert series with a performance by the Lowell Chamber Orchestra (LCO). Conducted by 51 music faculty member Orlando Cela, the concert will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 12 at 51’s Richard and Nancy Donahue Family Academic Arts Center, Theatre in Lowell.

“We are excited to be presenting the 25th season of ‘A World of Music Concert Series,’” said Carmen Rodríguez-Peralta, 51’s Chair of Music. “The Fall concerts will feature a variety of music, including the LCO, which is our resident orchestra, a lecture recital devoted to Jewish music, a Halloween concert by the noted Rasa String Quartet, a 51 faculty concert, and the end of semester student recital. We are grateful to the college and to our wonderful audience for their continued enthusiasm and support of our concerts!”

During the concert, the LCO will perform three masterpieces from the Classical Era. Symphony No. 4 by Luigi Boccherini; Symphony No. 40 in G minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; and the Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major by Franz Joseph Haydn will be featured. The cello soloist will be William Suh, winner of the 2025 LCO Young Artist Competition.

“LCO runs a concerto competition for young artists from the United States and abroad,” Rodríguez-Peralta. “The winner this year is the wonderful cellist William Suh, who will be performing the elegant and evocative Cello Concerto in D Major by Franz Joseph Haydn.”

The LCO will perform a second time at the Academic Arts Center, Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 13 to close out the season.

Additional “A World of Music” performances include Jewish Songs and Dances at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21; Rasa Strings Quartet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 26; 51 Faculty Concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 7; and a Student Recital at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 8 at 51’s Concert Hall on the Bedford Campus.
